Houghton Grange Phase 2 — 120 Homes Approved by Just One Vote.

After a second Development Management Control Meeting on 20th October, HDC Councillors approved the application — by a razor-thin vote: 7 in favour, 6 against.
A huge thank you to everyone who stood with us — neighbouring town and parish councils, and every resident who wrote, spoke, or showed up. Your support has been invaluable.
However, many of you have shared serious concerns about the decision-making process at the meeting — and we agree.
After seeking legal advice, the Parish Council believes the case was not given a fair or just hearing. At an Extraordinary Parish Council Meeting on Tuesday 28th, councillors voted to challenge the decision again.
Taking legal action means legal fees — including the cost of a barrister to represent the parish.
We are now accepting donations from anyone who is willing and able to help offset some of these costs This community has proven time and time again that it is strong, resilient, and ready to stand together when it matters most.
Now is one of those moments.
